Recipe: Mango & Ginger Milkshake

Mango and Ginger Milkshake

I can't speak for other food bloggers but sometimes when you're not planning to blog about it, but rather you just throw things together in a hope that it will taste good, they just work. Really well. This is what happened with this milkshake.

Let me set the scene a little, about a week ago mangos were on offer in Lidl, so of course I had to buy some as they are one of my favourite fruits, but then it was one of those weeks. I'm sure you know them well too, where you just don't know where the hours and the days go and so my beloved mangos were left untouched and unloved in the fruit basket.

I had to use them today, otherwise it would be a waste, but after A LOT of baking and cake at a charity tea party I helped to host last weekend, I was having a weekend off. So my mind turned to smoothies, and milkshakes and then this experiment turned out to be something pretty darn good.

Mango milkshake


So, I present to you the mango and ginger milkshake. I was debating whether to call it a 'recipe' as you basically just get the ingredients and blend, but I guess that still counts.

Ingredients - makes 1 tall milkshake

1 mango, peeled and roughly chopped
3cm root ginger, peeled
200ml milk
3 scoops of vanilla ice-cream
1 lime, juice

Blend the ingredients together in a blender until thick, creamy and slightly frothy. Make sure you don't have any big lumps of mango!

  1. That looks so delicious Sophie. If I don't have vanilla ice-cream, do you think a frozen banana would work as well?

    1. Thanks Angela! I don't see why it wouldn't as mango and banana taste nice together! Let me know how it turns out if you try it.

  2. This looks delicious! I don't often get that feeling with recipes, but whenever we go out for a meal and I say it won't be anything special and don't take a camera I always regret it and wish I was blogging about it. It's funny how blogging can start to take over everything! x
