I was recently luckily enough to be invited to a unique blogger event at a new artisan chocolate shop in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham City Centre.
The Chocolate Quarter is a family run, independent chocolatiers
that has recently opened. Selling delicious, handcrafted chocolates that are
made on site, traditional Aztec hot chocolate and much more, this quaint shop
also offers workshops and tasting sessions that are perfect for hen parties,
birthday parties or corporate team building days!
Once we arrived (and after taking money photos) we settled
down with a hot chocolate – made the traditional way with melting real
chocolate and mixing with water to make it a bit more liquefied. It was
absolutely delicious, and felt way more indulgent than any hot chocolate I had
before.
We learnt about chocolate, and tasted a few different types
that had different levels of acidity which leaves a different flavour in your
mouth.
Next we got messy! After watching the masters give a demonstration, we had a go at filling some chocolate
shells with a coffee caramel, tempering milk chocolate, capping them and then coating them in melted
chocolate and rolling in icing sugar, cocoa powder or coconut.
Next was on to the tasting session! The Chocolate Quarter have come up with three new flavours especially for Father’s Day and we got an exclusive taste – these were Stout, Bacon and Whiskey.
The stout one was definitely
my favourite, but the bacon and whiskey flavours whilst unusual, I can see being
a big hit with the whiskey loving Dads out there! If you’re looking for a
unique Father’s Day present then this would be great, and can be ordered
online.
We got to take the chocolates we made home, but I couldn’t
resist topping up my box with some of their more unusual chocolates they had
made including cherry bakewell, strawberry & balsamic and sea salt caramel.
They were so delicious, I will definitely be ordering my chocolates for luxury
chocolate gifts from The Chocolate Quarter - check out their website.
