The Gin Vault, Birmingham

The Gin Vault Birmingham

A few weeks ago I went and met up with some lovely Birmingham bloggers inside The Gin Vault.
New to the Birmingham bar scene, The Gin Vault is Birmingham’s first bar dedicated to all things gin. One of my go-to alcoholic beverages, I enjoy drinking gin so was excited to try it out and have a look around!

Located canal side, on Gas Street, The Gin Vault is conveniently located nearby to the city centre but within the hustle and bustle of the bar and drinks scene – Brindley Place being a couple of minutes’ walk away.

Inside, the décor is what I would describe as simplistic, but cute! Think jam jar lights, cork walls and light up signs. It is small, but cosy. The manager explained there are dedicated seating areas including a cuddle corner which has blankets and cushions!

Now on to the gin! I tried to drinks whilst I was there but did sample a few sips from fellow bloggers. What I loved most about this place is that upon looking at the 10 page menu and having no idea what to order, I went and spoke to the lovely lady behind the bar who advised me what to have. I said I like Hendricks gin best, and usually had cocktails that involved elderflower. She said she had just the cocktail for me.

It was made up of double Hendricks gin, elderflower cordial and topped up with ginger ale. It was delicious! I was impressed.

Second I tried a classic gin & ton – again sticking to Hendricks gin. I loved the glass it was served in. It was a good gin & tonic, but I'm not sure it was the best I have ever had.

I felt the prices were quite high – even for Birmingham city centre. The cocktail prices were reasonable but for a gin & tonic they were higher than many other bars around the area.

We also got to sample some food from their new Tapas range they are introducing – it was a standard assortment of food, my favourites were definitely the tempura prawns and the chorizo. It didn’t blow me away, but you wouldn’t go here for food alone, you’d go for gin and I feel the food does suit the atmosphere of the bar well.

Disclaimer: I went to a bloggers meet up event at The Gin Vault, whilst our food was complimentary I paid for my drinks in full. All opinions are my own and they did not know I would be writing a review.

  1. Eeeek that is expensive for a G&T but I do love them! :) Sorting out a decent collection of gins at home - I think we're up to about 6 or so different ones - nothing in comparison to gin bars collections. Pink Pepper Gin was one I tried the other day and it was SO tasty! Alice xxx
