The venue itself is very nice, and quite a surprise, Hill Street isn’t exactly famous for bars and restaurants so it’s in a good location if you find yourself staying nearby and needing to grab a quick bite to eat.
They have an extensive cocktail menu, the passion fruit margarita that I tried was absolutely delicious and very easy to drink. A couple of bloggers had a go at making their own cocktails, which was fun. They do offer cocktail masterclasses, which would be perfect for a hen party.
Food wise the menu is small, which I actually prefer. They have a selection of small plates available for 3 for £14. I think we tried them all, my favourites were definitely the Chorizo & Squid Hotpot which was bursting with flavour and the squid and chorizo were cooked wonderfully. I also enjoyed the chicken wings, which were very spicy, but I liked that, they were incredible moreish. Other worthwhile mentions go to the Posh Cheesy Chips and the Mac & Cheese Balls. I mean you can't really go wrong with fried macaroni cheese. I also heard very good things about the DIY Prawn Pot Noodle, but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to try this.
Some of the dishes left me a little disappointed, the chip butty for example was nice but I did feel if I was paying over £4 for it, then I would have preferred it on some nicer bread. I also really didn’t like the Faggot Sliders but that is just personal taste.
Disclosure: I was invited to a blogger/press event pre opening of Lobby on Hill Street. Our food & drink was complimentary, however I was not obliged to write a review. All opinions are my own.
