I absolutely love the Good Food Shows and have been to a couple now. A few weeks ago Chris and I headed to the winter edition held in the NEC.
The show runs across three days and as well has having hundreds of different food, drinks and appliance stands it also has delicious food on offer to eat there and then, cocktail and prosecco bars, a restaurant and a host of shows with celebrity chefs.
I’d say if you’re interested in watching the shows then the best day to go is Saturday, but if you’re after some bargains on food, drink and gifts then go on the Sunday.
It’s a really fun day out and lots of stalls offer tasting samples so you can try before you buy. I think it’s also really interesting speaking to owners of the stands to find out more about them, and if you like the product where you can buy it outside the show.
I ended up picking up a number of Christmas gifts for my foodie friends and families, and got some great offers whilst doing so. However, my favourite thing about the Good Food Show is that it forces you to try not only new foods and flavours but also discover new, more independent companies.
So what were my highlights? Well here’s a few things, although I’ll have to leave some out as I can’t give away my Christmas Gifts!
If you like your gin make sure you try Sipsmith Gin. It’s honestly the nicest gin I’ve tried, and even without tonic is pleasant enough to drink.
Viking Drinking Horns
Okay not my favourite, but Chris LOVED them, and they did look pretty cool. They’d make a great, quirky Christmas gift.
I love taking pictures and exploring all the different sweets and treats on offer at Med Foods. Pick and mix your favourites to take away.
Mary Berry Collection
It’s so cute! A range of lovely patterns and all the home and kitchen ware you need! I may have picked up a couple of Christmas gifts from here….
